Christian Musings

Bill Moore’s passion for the Word jumps out at the reader from every page of this remarkable tome, Christian Musings Volume II, a stunning sequel to his maiden publication, Christian Musings.

Bill’s research is intense and his eye for detail is uncanny, befitting a man who spent the lion’s share of his life as a prominent civil engineer.

But once he came to know the Lord in a very personal way, all that he had accomplished in the technical, corporate world became of little importance to him. Digging into the Word was now his heart’s desire, and he would often lament to friends his frustration over the years he had spent establishing his engineering firm, years he now regarded as wasted time.

Maybe that explains the zeal, the voracious Scriptural appetite that produced this prodigious labor of love that many would find daunting, even overwhelming.

Bill, however, finds it energizing, if not euphoric, to stumble upon nuggets of Biblical history and transform them into user-friendly observations.

That regret over “wasted time” is not shared by this friend who sees in Bill’s emergence as a Biblical scholar a reaffirmation of the Bible’s assurance (Ecclesiastes 3:11) that “He makes everything beautiful in His time,” not ours.

Indeed, all those years of sharpening his mind, honing his curiosity, developing his probative instincts, prepared him for a new season of life when those cultivated skills would take him deep into scholarly Biblical studies.

Making complex observations easy to digest, he offers his readers a guided tour of their faith’s foundations.

Turning these pages is like eating peanuts; where do you stop?

Bill is my friend and it is a personal honor just to be associated with him, let alone contribute this foreword to Christian Musings Volume II.

Yet, knowing the value of a good name (Proverbs 22:1), I would not recommend to any reader the works of any writer in whom I did not have full confidence and trust.

I have all of that and more for Bill.

His modesty prohibits him from believing the good things that are said about him, but that’s OK because this magnificent volume says it all.

Read it at your leisure. Ponder every paragraph. Savor every revelation. Let it draw you into a deeper understanding of what we believe and why. Inhale the humble spirit of its author as he shares with you the riches to be found in the Great Speckled Bird.

Thank you, dear friend, for this treasure you have produced.
And I can tell you what his response would be: To God be the glory!
Once again, he’d be absolutely right.
