Christian Musings

Why These Essays

Why These Essays

True Christian faith demands that we understand and apply the whole Word of God to our lives and to our witnessing, and not merely to pick and choose those portions that are pleasing and not discomforting. I believe that I have been faithful to this in developing these essays.

As I read and studied, I discovered what to me great revelations, beautiful pearls of wisdom, were and priceless insights, which I wanted to shout out and share with all who would listen. But in my world, there were none who really wanted to listen. Furthermore, I realized that my ability as a speaker was sadly limited, that what was in my mind had difficulty passing through my lips as coherently as it seemed while entering my heart. Making essays out of these musings became my response to this difficulty. Although, my writing skill barely exceeds my speaking ability, it seems that it is the gift I’ve been given to use for sharing my musings.

At first, it was not my intention or desire to publish these papers. I wrote primarily to solidify and bring clarity to the many thoughts and revelations that come to me as I continued to study and muse about the wonderful things I found in God’s precious Book. Once I felt a bit of confidence in the value of what had been written, I began sharing some of these essays with those who seemed interested. Over the years, a number of people urged me to publish them in a book. Finally it occurred to me that for those who are “seekers” or are young in the faith, as I am, and also for those who feel intimidated by the awesome nature of God’s Word, perhaps this volume could offer some benefits, and even lead some to Jesus. What follows, is a selection of those essays that I pray, He has chosen, and with which, He is offering to bless the reader.

Some of these papers were composed very shortly after my rebirth and may be somewhat elementary. Others may seem a bit unorthodox. I have chosen to take Scripture literally where applicable and to make it evident where I have delved into suppositions and conjecture. I urge the reader, wherever there seems to be any questions, to invoke Acts 17:11 and search the Scripture to see “whether those things are so.”
